The Phonetic Zoo allows students to work on spelling independently and consistently.  The student listens to the audio CD which provides a short, rhyming spelling rule for each group of words followed by the word, a sentence using the word and the word repeated.  The student pauses the CD to write the word then restarts it to hear the word spelled out correctly. 

There are so many benefits to this program!  Good spelling requires consistency and because Phonetic Zoo doesn’t depend on Mom spelling doesn’t get skipped because you’re too busy to get to it.  Auditory learners can wear headphones to block out distractions enabling better concentration.  Each word list adheres to a specific rule which provides a clear, logical organization to the program, encouraging success and confidence, especially for kids who struggle with spelling.
