Founders of Freedom, the first volume in the Land of Our Lady series, begins with the Creation and ends with events leading up to the discovery of the New World. Written in a conversational style, it makes a pleasant read-aloud to young elementary students as a first introduction to Western Civilization.

Topics include the beginning of civilizaiton, Greek and Roman cultures, the beginning and spread of Christianity, medieval government and society, and events leading up to the discovery of the New World.
